This ethereal layering of transparencies is influenced by the iridescent cicada wing, whose outlines have been further refined by a series of line drawings. Embracing the paradoxical challenge of depicting translucence with opaque fibers, Brittain and the Edward Fields studio have brought forth a shimmer that captures both the diaphanous movement and the glistening surfaces of insect wings in flight.
