Memphis Milano
In December 1980, Ettore Sottsass gathered a group of designers in Milan to explore new forms of expression, leading to the creation of the Memphis Group. Named after both Elvis Presley’s home city and ancient Egypt’s capital, Memphis debuted 55 bold, unconventional pieces at the 1981 Salone del Mobile, gaining international acclaim. Today, its playful, geometric, and colorful aesthetic continues to influence contemporary design, from fashion to furniture.
